FUTUREgen16 Conference Encourages Youth to Create Their Future

On 2nd and 3rd August 2016, Thinq Group will hold FUTUREgen16, a conference to empower youth through employment, education and entrepreneurship programs. The name of the conference speaks to the conference's theme of "Creating a Future that Works for Young People".

Thinq Group is an organisation which provides consultancy and service delivery options that benefit the community. It is comprised of representatives from education, employment services and youth sectors who believe that collaboration leads to better, more sustainable solutions.

Thinq Group's belief in collaboration was the basis for hosting FUTUREgen16. The conference aims to connect youth with organisations and individuals who invest in future generations. Several high-profile speakers will give keynote presentations, as well as concurrent sessions. The speakers include:

• Mark McCrindle, award-winning social researcher and best-selling author
• Shea Spierings, 2015 United Nations Australian Youth Ambassador
• Professor Johanna Wyn, Director of the Youth Research Centre at The University of Melbourne
• Nicholas Wyman, CEO of Skilling Australia Foundation and award winning author of Job U – Find your path to a rewarding career in a tough job market.

The speakers will cover the following topics:

• Transitioning to work for youth
• Engaging at-risk youth in employment and education
• Supporting and engaging youth from indigenous and multicultural backgrounds, youth with disability and from rural/regional areas to achieve their education and employment goals
• Helping youth understand entrepreneurship and the role employers play to engage youth within the workplace
• Educating youth about the future

A variety of exhibitors will also be at the conference, including Good Education Group, The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and Young ICT Explorers. The exhibitors come from private and not-for-profit employment service providers, government representatives, community organisations, schools, business and industry representatives, philanthropy organisations with a focus on engaging youth and peak and industry bodies.

The conference will be held at Pullman Melbourne On The Park, located in the heart of East Melbourne within the city's main sports and entertainment district. Registration for the conference closes on 22nd July 2016.
